Description

The Monson Narrow Gauge train was used to haul slate from the Monson quarries to the Monson Junction Station in Abbot. They then transferred the slate and slate products to the Bangor and Aroostook line to be shipped all over the United States. Later the Monson Narrow Gauge train was used to transport passengers as well as freight. This photo is undated but the occasion must have been quite an event as some of the ladies are carrying bouquets of flowers and the young boys are in their "Sunday best" Note also the two young men in the front who are dressed in baseball uniforms and equipment.
